Benedictine Mornings, an ecumenical gathering of women begun in 2008 with reading, reflecting, and sharing the wisdom of The Rule of Benedict, a spiritual guide for ordinary lives. The four-month reading cycle invites a daily individual reading with Sr. Joan Chittister as our teacher. A monthly Saturday morning gathering with a corporate Benedictine prayer pattern, a simple breakfast, and small group reflection helps us navigate this 1500 year old wisdom guide for today.
Daily readings for individual reflection begin January 1st and conclude April 30th. In addition the optional additional reading will include portions from The Book of Joy – conversations with The Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu and Douglas Abrams. The later portion of The Book of Joy describes 8 Pillars of Joy: Perspective, Humility, Humor, Acceptance, Forgiveness, Gratitude, Compassion, and Generosity.
