Benedictine Mornings

An Opportunity to enter into an individual daily and corporate monthly practice for spiritual growth in an ecumenical women’s gathering, using The Rule of Benedict as our guide, with daily readings for a four-month cycle. The four monthly gatherings for corporate prayer and encouragement are on a Saturday morning of each month from 8:00 to 11:00 AM at Covenant Community Church, 134 E Barney Avenue, Muskegon Heights, Michigan.

There may be an orientation session for those just beginning and/or prior participants who may have questions about process.

Saturday morning corporate prayers begin each month at 8:30 AM. (From 8:00 - 8:30 silence is kept upon entering the church and sanctuary area for those desiring quiet space prior to corporate prayers.) A simple shared breakfast follows Morning Prayers.

Small groups then convene for reflection, mutual encouragement, and prayer, concluding by 11:00 AM.

Participation includes:

  • Purchase, and read daily, The Rule of Benedict with Sr. Joan Chittister as our guide (purchase through amazon.com or Barnes & Noble either the older edition subtitled, Insight for the Ages, or the newer edition subtitled A Spirituality for the 21st Century).

  • A daily prayer practice.

  • Faithful intention to attend all four Saturday gatherings, sharing in simple meal preparation and clean up, small group conversation, and morning prayer leadership if willing. Commitment to the process and the group will enhance each person’s experience as well as supplies for each day.

There is no charge for participation although a $40 donation to The Center for Spirituality, Action and Transformation is suggested and would be welcomed and most appreciated.

Thank you. (Checks payable to C-SAT) Contact Us for more information.
